LUCKNOW, Sept. 14 -- A Maharashtra connection has emerged in a series of cyber frauds targeting Green Gas consumers, with retired inspector general of police Onkar Singh allegedly losing Rs 50,000 to fraudsters posing as gas company representatives. Singh was duped on September 7 after receiving a call around 7:42pm claiming his gas meter and bill needed updating. The caller sent a WhatsApp link and asked him to pay Rs 13. When his debit card payment failed, the fraudster asked him to use net banking and gained screen-sharing access to his wife's phone. Around 9 pm, Singh received an alert that Rs 50,000 had been debited from his SBI account and credited to an account in the name of Narisha. Singh informed his bank at 9:36pm and obtained the transaction's UTR number. He also filed a cybercrime complaint around 10 pm. htc...
