LUCKNOW, Feb. 27 -- Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, UP, on Thursday directed that separate toilets for girl students be ensured in all schools by March 8 that also marks the International Women's Day. There are still a few government schools that lack separate toilets for girls. The ACS gave this instruction at a review meeting held via video conferencing with the divisional assistant director of education (basic) and district basic education officers. The meeting discussed in detail the infrastructure in council schools, implementation of schemes, and future educational arrangements. Sharma urged the schools selected under the PM Shri Yojana to expedite the implementation of activities and prepare for the smooth conduct of annual examinations in council schools in the coming days. He also directed to maintain regular, quality meals under the PM Poshan Yojana and to pay special attention to KGBVs, construction work, pre-primary education, Bal Vatika and teaching quality under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Instructions were also given to ensure supply, transportation and timely distribution of textbooks, availability of furniture in schools, use of smart classes and ICT labs, and strengthening monitoring. Emphasis was laid on completing the construction of CM model composite schools in a timely and quality manner.
