Jhansi, April 16 -- A third-year mechanical engineering student of Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering and Technology died by suicide on Wednesday morning after allegedly hanging himself in his hostel room on the institute campus. The deceased was a resident of Auraiya district. He was staying in the Panchwati Hostel, where senior students are allotted individual rooms. According to sources, the young man had spoken to his mother earlier in the morning. Sensing something unusual during the conversation, she alerted relatives residing in the Rajgarh area of Jhansi and asked them to check on him. By the time they reached the campus, the young man had locked himself inside his room. Concerned classmates informed the college authorities, following which officials rushed to the spot and broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. Police were also called in. The young man was rushed to Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. Dean Academics MP Yadav said, "No suicide note has been recovered so far. He appeared normal in behaviour."...
