Dehradun, Aug. 9 -- Chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam on Saturday directed district election officers (DEOs) to encourage booth-level officers (BLOs) and field staff engaged in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials said. Purushottam reviewed the progress of the SIR during a video conference with Kumaon and Garhwal divisional commissioners and district magistrates of all districts. "The BLOs and field staff are working hard and should be encouraged," the CEO said. He directed officials to ensure that in areas where movement was affected by rain, BLOs dealing with discrepancy cases should collect the required documents by post and submit reports at their level for further action. Electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) were asked to devise convenient mechanisms to hear cases involving unmapped voters.
