VARANASI, May 24 -- A couple was found dead in their house in Gomadih Basti under Gambhirpur police station area of Azamgarh district on Saturday, police said. The deceased have been identified as Shyamlal 80 and his wife, Basanta Devi, 70. A police officer said, the couple has four sons. Three days ago, the elderly couple called all family members and divided their property. It is said that the day after the division, the elder son and his wife had an argument with the elderly couple over some issue. According to family members, the couple went to sleep in their room after dinner on Friday night. When the younger daughter-in-law went to wake them on Saturday morning, both were found lying dead in bed. Superintendent of police, city, Madhuban Kumar Singh and the forensic team inspected the scene and collected evidence. The family suspects murder through poisoning. Circle officer, Sadar, Aastha Jaiswal, said, "The actual cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem examination report. At present, investigation into the matter is underway." A 19-year-old woman drowned while bathing in the Sai river in Pratapgarh district on Saturday morning, police said. The deceased, identified as Garima Kori, a resident of Udharanpur under Lalganj Kotwali, had gone to the river around 9am with a group from her village. During the bath, Garima and two other women-Ranjana, 24, and Kajal, 18-reportedly drifted into deeper waters and began to drown. Villagers present on the riverbank noticed them struggling and managed to rescue Ranjana and Kajal after considerable effort, but Garima was swept further into deeper water and drowned. Family members and villagers somehow retrieved Garima and took her to the Lalganj Trauma Center, where doctors declared her dead. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination. A furniture dealer died after his motorcycle collided with an e-rickshaw on Saturday morning under a bypass flyover in the Nawabganj police station area. The deceased has been identified as Ashish Kumar Vishwakarma, a resident of Sonamau village. According to police, Ashish sustained critical injuries in the impact and fell unconscious at the spot. Upon receiving information, police personnel and his family members rushed to the scene and shifted him to CHC. However, doctors declared him dead. Following a written complaint lodged by the deceased's brother, police have registered a case against an unidentified e-rickshaw driver....
