Rudrapur, March 3 -- Forest officials in Haldwani's Fatehpur range have intensified efforts to capture a tiger suspected of killing at least two women within 14 days, people aware of the matter said on Monday. Two teams equipped with tranquiliser guns are stationed in the area on raised platforms (machans), said officials, adding that four cages and 58 camera traps have been installed to aid the effort. The tiger has not yet been captured and its image has not yet been recorded, officials said. "We have distributed 25 solar lights in villages adjoining the forest range. Forest officials said that after a gap of nearly five years, the renewed threat has once again posed a challenge for both the forest department and villagers living near the forest range....
