Lucknow, June 16 -- The state government has directed education department officials across Uttar Pradesh to expedite teacher transfers, ensure timely payment of dues and intensify preparations for the second phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan beginning July 1, according to an official communication issued after a virtual review meeting chaired by a senior official. The government also instructed officials to ensure prompt utilisation of sanctioned funds under the Samagra Shiksha scheme and clear pending payments related to civil works and laboratory equipment by June 30, according to the communication issued on June 12. The directions were issued following a virtual review meeting held this month under the chairmanship of Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education. Authorities were told to ensure enrolment of all school-age children and facilitate the transition of students moving from Classes 5, 8 and 10 to the next level of schooling.
