Edu institutions gear up for Yoga Day
LUCKNOW, June 16 -- Educational institutions are gearing up for the International Yoga Day celebrations, extending it from a one-day event to week-long and, in some cases, month-long activities.
At Lucknow University, month-long yoga campaign leading up to International Yoga Day is being organised. Daily collective yoga practice sessions are being held at the Yoga Hall, Yoga Faculty, Second Campus, LU.
These are followed by specialised workshops and seminars. The schedule includes: a workshop on Tratak on June 16, a seminar on the effect of pranayama on the human body on June 17, and a seminar on the role of yoga in developing memory power on June 19, said spokesperson Senior Prof Mukul Srivastava.
University will observe Yoga Day with a mass yoga session based on the Common Yoga Protocol followed by a seminar on 'World Peace and Yoga'. "Month-long programme reflects LU's commitment to promoting physical, mental and spiritual well being, and making yoga a sustainable part of students' and staff's daily routine beyond a single-day observance," said Srivastava.
Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Language University is holding week-long celebrations that began on Monday on the theme 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing'. The week-long activities aim to promote holistic health, healthy ageing and yoga as part of daily life for students, staff, senior citizens and the wider community. The schedule included a Walkathon for Yoga on June 15 to spread awareness, a special lecture on Healthy Ageing and Yoga to be held on June 16, and a dedicated yoga session for senior citizens on June 17 to improve flexibility, balance and stress management....
