DUDA official, woman found dead; murder probe on
Meerut, May 1 -- Bodies of DUDA (District Urban Development Agency) official Vikrant Kumar and a woman identified as Rakhi Kashyap were recovered from separate locations in Saharanpur, triggering a double murder investigation. Police suspect that both victims were killed after being taken from Baghpat to Saharanpur, possibly to a secluded farmhouse.
Vikrant Kumar, 37, a resident of Prayagraj, was posted as a City Mission Manager with DUDA in Baghpat. He had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on April 16. Despite extensive search efforts, there was no breakthrough, prompting his wife, Prachi, to lodge a missing person complaint.
In her complaint, Prachi alleged that Rakhi Kashyap had been harassing her husband. Investigators are examining this claim closely and probing the nature of the relationship between Vikrant and Rakhi as part of the case.
SSP Baghpat Suraj Kumar Rai said that on April 17, an unidentified man's body was recovered from the Badgaon police station area in Saharanpur. The body was later identified as that of Kumar. Days later, on April 27, the throat-slit body of a young woman was found in the forest area of Rajapur Naugawan under the Mirzapur police station limits in the district. The deceased was identified as Rakhi Kashyap.
Preliminary findings indicate that both victims may have been transported by car from Baghpat to Saharanpur. Investigators suspect they were taken to a farmhouse, where they were attacked with a sharp weapon and killed. Multiple teams have been deployed to crack the case, with investigators relying on call detail records and location to reconstruct the crime. htc...
