LUCKNOW, July 30 -- Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University will hold its 13th Convocation on July 31, where 1,919 students - 955 girls and 964 boys - will receive degrees. Seventeen scholars will be awarded PhD degrees. As many as 130 meritorious students will be honoured with 156 medals-76 gold, 40 silver and 40 bronze. Among them, 27 students with disabilities have won 45 medals, an increase from last year. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday to mark two years of his tenure, vice-chancellor prof Sanjay Singh said the university has emerged as Asia's only institution providing inclusive education to students with and without disabilities. "Equipped with barrier-free infrastructure, it currently runs 10 faculties and 35 departments, including newly added faculties of pharmaceutical sciences and engineering and technology, and departments of Sanskrit and yoga. Under NEP 2020, the university has also started two new programmes in music and yoga, 56 multidisciplinary courses and one skill enhancement programme," said Singh. He said 15 MoUs have been signed this year for research collaboration, software development, skill enhancement, data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning. The university has secured 162nd position in the Nature Index Ranking 2025 and second in overall research output. It ranked 139th in chemistry and 59th in biological sciences....
