LUCKNOW, May 13 -- A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his friend after a drunken argument inside a park in Lucknow's Bazarkhala area on Tuesday afternoon allegedly over bhandara food; the accused later headed to buy liquor and was detained by police at the shop. The deceased, Vijay Gautam, a resident of Sanjay Nagar under Bazarkhala police station limits, worked at a quilt and mattress filling shop in Maulviganj. Police identified the accused as Pintu, who lives near Pandey Talab area. According to police, both men had been drinking and entered Maharaja Agrasen Park in Tilak Nagar together around noon. CCTV footage showed the two walking into the park with their arms around each other's shoulders. Police said the two got into an argument over bhandara food while inside the park. During the altercation, Pintu allegedly attacked Vijay with a wooden stick, repeatedly striking him on the head and face.
