LUCKNOW, Sept. 9 -- With stagnant water creating potential mosquito breeding sites during the monsoon, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has used drones to spray anti-larval chemicals at 74 waterlogged locations in the city. The move aims to reduce the risk of dengue and chikungunya. The special drive targeted large waterlogged areas, ponds, lakes and other sites where mosquito larvae are likely to thrive. Anti-larval and MLO chemicals were sprayed using drones under the directions of Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar and the supervision of Municipal Health Officer PK Srivastava. The operation covered areas including Butler Palace Colony, Moti Jheel, Nanda Kheda, PNT Ground, Jankipuram, Faizullaganj, Malhaur-Bharwara, Khargapur-Sarsawan, Sarojini Nagar, Kesari Kheda, Saadatganj, Hussainabad, Ismailganj and Vidyawati. Among the major water bodies treated were Moti Jheel, Khargapur, Bandhwa, Tapovan Nagar, Sheesh Mahal, Ghantaghar, Mahipatmau, Vinayaki and Raja Bijli Pasi ponds.
