Bhopal, Oct. 19 -- The driver who mowed down 15 devotees outside the Shitala Mata Temple in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh lost control on a sloping curve 50 metres from the temple while he was navigating the way to Punjab using Google Maps, police said on Sunday. Gwalior superintendent of police Dharamveer Yadav said the driver, identified as Dilbag Singh, is a resident of Punjabi Colony in Delhi. He was returning to Punjab after loading paddy from the nearby Dabra grain market. There were two trucks heading the same way. Unfamiliar with the road, Singh turned to Google Maps and began navigating. "According to preliminary information, the two trucks were loaded with paddy from a market in Dabra. Both trucks were from Punjab and were travelling back together. Being from outside Madhya Pradesh, the driver was unfamiliar with the route and was navigating using Google Maps," the SP said. Citing the driver, Yadav said the brakes of the truck allegedly failed and entered a no-entry zone at 1.30 am on Sunday. "When police tried to stop the truck, it broke through the police barricades and went hurtling down a slope toward the 125-year-old temple, ploughed through roadside shops and ran over devotees waiting for darshan before crashing into the entrance gate," the SP said. Police arrested the truck driver as well as owner of the vehicle Harpreet Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab....
