Door-to-door SIR drive from June 8: Addl CEO
Dehradun, June 6 -- Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Uttarakhand will begin on June 8, with booth level officers (BLOs) launching a month-long door-to-door campaign to distribute and collect enumeration forms from voters across the state, additional chief electoral officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference in Dehradun, Jogdande said preparations for the revision exercise have been completed, including three-phase training of BLOs and printing of enumeration forms for all assembly constituencies.
He said the revision will be conducted with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date and is aimed at updating the electoral rolls ahead of future elections.
According to the schedule, BLOs will visit households between June 8 and July 7 to distribute and collect enumeration forms from voters. The collected data will subsequently be digitised and uploaded through the BLO App.
To ensure maximum coverage, BLOs have been directed to make up to three visits if voters are not available at home during the initial visit, he said.
"If a voter is not found at home, the BLO will revisit the residence up to three times to facilitate the completion of the enumeration process," said Jogdande.
The draft electoral roll will be published on July 14, following which claims and objections can be filed until August 13.
The process of issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections will continue until September 11, while the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 15, he added. He said approximately 7.96 million voters in Uttarakhand will be covered under the exercise.
The additional chief electoral officer said voters also have the option of downloading enumeration forms online through the ECI-NET mobile application, filling them out and uploading them digitally.
Individuals eligible to be enrolled as new voters can submit applications through Form 6 by contacting their BLO. Such applications will be considered during the claims and objections phase, officials said.
To facilitate voter assistance, the Election Commission of India has introduced a "Book a Call with BLO" feature.
According to Jogdande, voters can schedule a phone call with their Booth Level Officer through the voter services portal or the ECI-NET mobile application. Once a request is registered, the BLO will contact the voter within two days.
He said the 2003 electoral roll has been uploaded to the website of the chief electoral officer, Uttarakhand, to help voters access historical records.
Through the portal, voters can search details such as voter serial numbers and booth information using their names, father's name or husband's name. Search facilities based on localities, streets and neighbourhoods have also been provided, he added.
Meanwhile , a meeting with representatives of recognised national political parties was also held under the chairmanship of Jogdande on Friday to discuss the special intensive revision exercise.
During the meeting, officials urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling station to ensure the effective implementation of the revision process. According to election officials, against the state's 11,733 polling booths, political parties have so far deployed 22,823 BLAs....
