Dehradun, July 4 -- A 34-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh was arrested on Friday in Dehradun for allegedly stealing jewellery worth nearly 10 lakh from a home where she was employed as a domestic worker, police said. Dehradun SSP Pramendra Dobhal said the complainant Nitisha Vats approached the police after she came across a photo uploaded by the accused, Vimla, to Instagram, where she was seen wearing a diamond necklace that the complainant suspected belonged to her. Vimla is from Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh. Based on her complaint, a case was registered under section 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the BNS, added the SSP. "Following a tip-off, a Rajpur police station team arrested Vimla from Johri Road on Friday. On her disclosure, the police recovered a diamond necklace, a gold locket, two gold rings, a gold pendant and an Oppo mobile phone. The recovered jewellery is estimated to be worth around Rs.10 lakh," he said. The complaint alleged that the valuables went missing nearly a year ago. She initially believed that the jewellery was either misplaced or with a relative. "The accused also reassured the complainant at the time that the jewellery had probably been misplaced or kept elsewhere," said Dobhal....
