PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 28 -- An orthopaedic surgeon was allegedly cheated of Rs.3.05 crore in a land deal after a man who agreed to sell him a plot for a clinic allegedly failed to execute the sale deed. The doctor also alleged assault and death threats to him and his family. Georgetown police registered a case against Rajesh Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Pannalal Road, on a complaint by Dr Ravindra Kumar Singh of AN Jha Marg. Singh alleged that he agreed to buy the plot for Rs.3.80 crore in May 2024. Between June 2024 and November 2025, he paid Rs.3.05 crore through cheques, RTGS and cash. Receipts were issued for the payments. He alleged that Tiwari did not execute the sale deed despite repeated requests. Singh later found that Tiwari was allegedly not the landowner and that a case over the property was pending in court. After Singh sought a refund, Tiwari allegedly gave a Rs.3.05-crore cheque that bounced. Singh alleged assault and death threats on June 7, followed by a threat letter against his family on June 30.
