Haldwani, June 8 -- A day after two people died in a fire at an Amazon warehouse in Haldwani, the Nainital district administration has sealed a paint warehouse and an e-commerce warehouse found operating without a valid Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC), officials said on Sunday. According to the administration, a joint team comprising officials from the district administration, police and fire department launched inspections of warehouses across the city following the fatal incident. Haldwani City Magistrate AP Bajpai said the team first inspected a paint warehouse located on Bareilly Road, where nearly nine lakh litres of paint were stored. "Despite storing a large quantity of combustible material, the warehouse lacked adequate fire safety arrangements," Bajpai said. He added that a preliminary inquiry revealed that the warehouse had been operating without a valid Fire NOC for nearly a year. The certificate had expired in October 2025 and was never renewed despite notices issued.
