Jaipur, March 6 -- Rajasthan education department on Wednesday directed all the schools to put up the teachers' details including their photographs, date of birth and employee ID on a wall to publicise among the parents. Issuing the order, the director of the primary education board, Sitaram Jatt, said, "All the school must keep the details of their teaching and administration status updated. Hence, every government school is hereby directed to paste the details of their teaching and non-teaching staff to a place in the school premises which is easily visible for any visitor. These details will include a copy of their latest photograph, name, date of birth, employee ID, qualifications, and subjects that they teach." The director also instructed the schools to send a photograph and details of these staff to the directorate's official e-mail ID soon after completion the process. Meanwhile, another senior official from the department, also said that the education department may also take action against the school who will not follow the process. "The director, during a meeting with the district officials, has also asked them to ensure that this is implemented immediately. The department may also take action against the schools if they fail to do it properly. The schools were askd to put it in a chart titled as 'Our teachers and our staff'," said the officer. He also added that the government took the move in view of getting a comprehensive view of the schools' administrative and teaching condition. "Such lists are usually kept with the principals. But publicising it will help the parents, education inspectors, and the administration will get a proper update of the situation. While the parents will be able to know about the teachers who are teaching their children, the administration will also be able to get hold of the information regarding staff shortage, vacancies etc." He added, "This system will now also force the schools to keep their information updated," said the officer. However, the development has now sparked a protest by various teachers' associations who opposed the move raising privacy concerns. htc...
