VARANASI, April 22 -- Tourists and pilgrims will soon be able to avail the facility of digital luggage lockers which will be installed in the vicinity of Baba Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Dashashwamedh and adjoining ghats in Varanasi. A total of 225 digital lockers in four distinct sizes: small, medium, large, and extra-large, will be installed. Those who need to use the lockers will be able to keep their belongings, including mobile phones and suitcases, here. Additionally, digital payment facilities will be available for the use of these lockers. Municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal stated that for the convenience of travellers, a system of digital luggage lockers is being established. These lockers will be installed at Dashashwamedh Plaza (near Dashashwamedh Ghat), Godowlia, Town Hall, and the Beniabagh parking area. He further added that the facility will comprise 225 digital lockers, available in four distinct sizes of small, medium, large, and extra-large. These lockers will accommodate items ranging from mobile phones and small bags to suitcases-with the largest lockers capable of holding up to two suitcases. Meanwhile, amidst scorching sun, and heatwaves, the Varanasi Nagar Nigam has installed water coolers at 17 locations and traditional pyaus at 22 locations. Sandeep Srivastava, public relations officer, stated that the drinking water kiosks are being operated under the supervision of the Horticulture Department and have been installed at crowded and prominent public places throughout the city. The corporation has indicated that if requests arise from other areas, the number of these facilities can be further increased in the future. Water coolers are functional at Assi Ghat, Ravidas Gate, Golghar Kacheri Road, Pandeypur Crossing, the Kacheri (Court) Complex, the Sarnath Zonal Office, Dhobighat Bajardiha, Mahmoorganj T-point, the Rishe-Mandavi Zonal Office, Ramnagar Fort, and the Mansa Devi Temple. Work at the remaining designated locations is also expected to be completed shortly. Additionally, drinking water kiosks (Pyau) have been launched at 22 other key locations across the city. These include sites near the Luxa Police Station, Ratnakar Park, Anand Bagh Park, Maidagin, Shaheed Udyan (near the East Gate), Kacheri, the Pandeypur Hanuman Temple, Machhodari Park, Teliabag T-point, Ramkatora Crossing, in front of the Sigra Police Station, and at various prominent ghats such as Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Namo Ghat, and Bhaisasur Ghat....
