VARANASI, Aug. 23 -- Dissatisfied with the third provisional seniority list issued by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), a delegation of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) lecturers submitted a memorandum to deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday, alleging significant irregularities in promotion rankings. The aggrieved lecturers claimed that service rules were bypassed in the provisional list released on August 18, 2026, resulting in senior faculty being overlooked while junior peers were placed ahead in line for promotion. Highlighting a key discrepancy, the delegation noted that lecturer Arvind Kumar Maurya, originally appointed on May 19, 2017, had consistently held the top rank across three previous seniority lists. However, in the latest list, Maurya was demoted to the 960th position.
