Dehradun, Oct. 20 -- Dhal Singh Bisen was on Monday sworn in as the new governor of Uttarakhand on Monday. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by the acting chief justice of the Uttarakhand high court, Manoj Kumar Tiwari. After assuming office as Governor, Dr Bisen addressed reporters. "Greetings to you all on this auspicious occasion. Paying my respects to the 'Devbhoomi' (Land of the Gods) of Uttarakhand, I begin by offering my heartfelt salutations to this sacred land and its magnificent people. I express my gratitude to the nation's top leadership for granting me the opportunity to serve this 'Devbhoomi.'" He said, "Uttarakhand is not merely a state; it is a centre of our faith and culture. It is the land of the four sacred 'Dhams'-Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. It is also home to other profoundly sacred and ethereal sites, such as Adi Kailash and Jageshwar Dham. This land is world-renowned for its unique tourist destinations." Beyond being a 'Devbhoomi,' this state is also a 'Veer Bhoomi'- a land of the brave, he said. "From nearly every family here, at least one member serves in the armed forces to protect the nation. The women of this state are remarkably empowered and serve as a great source of inspiration. Furthermore, the youth, the farmers, and entire society here are exceptionally hardworking and resilient. It is for this reason Uttarakhand is currently advancing rapidly across various stages of development". Bisen said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had remarked from the precincts of Baba Kedarnath that the third decade of the 21st century would be the "decade of Uttarakhand." "Realising this vision, we must sustain the momentum of the state's development and propel it toward new heights. As Governor, my primary objectives include upholding constitutional values, maintaining the dignity of the office, and-in collaboration with the state government and the public-accelerating initiatives in education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, environmental conservation, employment, and general public welfare. Ensuring the peace, security, and prosperity of this 'Devbhoomi' remains our ultimate goal," he said. Bringing a blend of extensive legislative experience and a medical background to the constitutional post, Dr Bisen's journey spans decades of public service across central and state politics. Born on May 14, 1952, in Pipria, Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, to Shri Sevakram Bisen and Smt. Sonabai Bisen, Dr Bisen pursued a path in traditional medicine.
