DG family welfare appointed nodal officer for surrogacy cases
LUCKNOW, July 9 -- Uttar Pradesh will soon begin inspection of premises for which applications have been submitted for starting surrogacy/IVF clinics.
The decision was taken under the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021 and the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 at the second meeting of the "State Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board, UP", on Wednesday.
"This is a highly sensitive matter requiring a collective approach. Dr Pawan Kumar Arun, director-general, family welfare, has been designated as the nodal officer to oversee pending surrogacy cases in the state. Under his supervision, all pending surrogacy cases will be monitored and resolved in a time-bound manner," said deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak who chaired the meeting.
In the meeting, it was decided that applicants who have not deposited the registration fee against their online applications should be granted a final opportunity of 15 days in writing. There are over 650 applications for starting these facilities including over 100 in state capital. htc...
