LUCKNOW, June 23 -- Disturbing videos from the fire site have left residents shaken, capturing desperate attempts by trapped people to escape the raging inferno before rescue teams reached the spot. Videos recorded by onlookers and shared widely on social media showed people risking their lives to flee the burning structure. In one clip, a man can be seen jumping from the second floor as flames engulf the building. The crowd below watched in horror as smoke billowed from the windows. Another video showed six to seven students, including a young woman carrying a backpack, attempting to descend from an upper floor using an electric cable as makeshift rope. While one person managed to reach ground safely, the woman lost her grip midway and slid down before being assisted by people gathered below. Others followed the same route to escape as locals rushed to help, positioning mattresses, trying to cushion their landing.
