LUCKNOW, July 21 -- Hariyali Teej festival, a symbol of ancient Indian culture and faith, was celebrated with fervour at an event in Lucknow on Sunday. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak was joined by his social activist wife Namrata Pathak in felicitating outstanding women from diverse fields on the occasion, highlighting its significance in Indian culture. The festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, symbolising the union of the divine couple. The festival celebrates nature and greenery, marking the arrival of the monsoon season when the earth is adorned with lush greenery, providing coolness and peace. It is also a symbol of women's sacrifice, love, and unwavering faith. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak expressed his heartfelt joy on being part of the celebrations and wished everyone a happy and prosperous festival. Other dignitaries present at the event included deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and state BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary who extended warm wishes to women across the state on the occasion. The event's convener social worker Namrata Pathak expressed gratitude to all participants and highlighted the importance of recognising women's contributions. Women achievers from various fields such as education, healthcare, and social service were honoured during the event. Chairperson, Uttar Pradesh Women's Commission, Babita Chauhan, and vice president Aparna Yadav, entrepreneur and social activist Reena Singh, hospital owner Piyusha Rajani, educationists Beena Ray and Upma Chaturvedi and social activist Sunaina Chaudhary were felicitated at the event.
