Haldwani, Nov. 3 -- The district level development authority (DDA), Nainital has sealed an under-construction bungee jumping site in Dhikuli area of Ramnagar in Nainital district, citing the absence of an approved site plan. The action has put a halt to all adventure activities at the location until further orders. According to officials, a private operator had installed a bungee jumping tower featuring two platforms - a freestyle jump point at 101 metres and a rooftop jump point at 104 metres. The structure was completed in September, and the site had recently started drawing tourists looking for a new adventure option. DDA officials said the sealing action was taken nearly a month after operations began, as the facility was running without mandatory approvals. Confirming the development, DDA secretary Vijay Nath Shukla said, "The bungee jumping site in Dhikuli has been sealed as its map was not approved. A show-cause notice has also been issued to the operator." Site operator Sharad Arora said the Dhikuli facility was being developed as the tallest bungee jumping site in Uttarakhand. "Currently, the bungee jump in Rishikesh is 117 metres high. We were building a 131-metre site in Ramnagar. We had already applied to the DDA for site plan approval," he said....
