DBS surgery performed for first time at RMLIMS
	
		
				LUCKNOW, Oct. 31 -- The first deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery was successfully performed at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) for Parkinson's disease. A male patient, aged 68, had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for a long time. He had severe difficulty walking, body stiffness, and tremors. He was under the care of Dr Dinkar Kulshrestha, addl prof Abdul Qawi, neurology, RMLIMS. When medications didn't provide sufficient relief, the team decided on surgical treatment.
