Daughter-in-law arrested in Kanpur
KANPUR, Sept. 8 -- The daughter-in-law of pharmaceutical trader Vineet Vinocha was arrested in Kanpur on Monday in connection with his murder after employee and an alleged accomplice told police that they had killed the businessman at her behest for money, police said.
Vineet was stabbed 26 times inside his flat at Ratan Orbit apartment in Kalyanpur on Saturday night. Kanpur's deputy commissioner of police (West) SM Qasim Abidi confirmed Shalu Vinocha's arrest following disclosures by the employee, Vishal Gautam, 30, and his alleged accomplice Raj Kishore, 30. During questioning, Shalu allegedly told the police that she and her husband had little control over their finances and that, like employees, they were given a fixed monthly amount and had to request any additional amount from Vineet.
"The role of the daughter-in-law came to the fore during questioning of the two arrested accused. It was revealed that the conspiracy was hatched over 15 days ago and the daughter-in-law helped the two men gain access to the building. Vishal Gautam was an employee at the medicine shop for over 12 years. He also used to visit their residence for domestic work," Abidi said.
"The daughter-in-law approached Vishal and promised him Rs.2 lakh after the incident and another Rs.4 lakh later, taking the total promised amount to around Rs.6 lakh. Vishal subsequently agreed to the plan," Abidi said. According to the officer, the alleged motive was also linked to a camera installed inside the house.
"After installation of the camera, the freedom she (the daughter-in-law) had was being curtailed," he said....
