Cyber tricksters steal Rs 15.13 lakh from three residents
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 23 -- Cybercriminals stole approximately Rs 15.13 lakh from the accounts of a woman, a disabled person, and a businessman. All three victims have filed separate complaints at the Cyber police station.
Vinod Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Bhitaria village in Karchana, has filed a cyber fraud case.
According to Tiwari's complaint, he was returning to his village from Prayagraj city. On the way, he stopped to buy vegetables in Rampur market. Meanwhile, a youth snatched his mobile phone and ran away.
The complaint further stated that Rs 4,52,000 was withdrawn from his bank account through UPI.
Similarly, in another incident, a resident of Kydganj owns a business. He filed a complaint at the cyber police station, stating that his SIM card stopped working on October 13.
He went to the relevant office and obtained a replacement SIM card, which was activated the next day. Upon activation, he received messages from his bank, informing him that someone had withdrawn Rs.10,12,982 from his account via UPI on October 13 and 14.
Cybercriminals also defrauded a woman from Ashok Nagar, Rajapur, of Rs 48,000 in the name of a credit card. On getting the information, she lodged a complaint at the Cantonment police station. According to the woman, the caller introduced himself as a bank employee and took the bank account details in the name of making a credit card. Later, she received a message that Rs 48,000 had been deducted from her bank account.
Young man beaten up for misbehaving with women
Villagers caught a young man in Mungeri village for misbehaving with women under the Industrial Area police station in Prayagraj. He was tied to a tree and beaten up. It is alleged that the young man had been harassing women in the village for several days by calling them from fake numbers and making obscene remarks.
A video of the beating has gone viral on social media. However, no complaint had been made to police in this regard.
Disturbed by the calls, the women called the young man to the village, caught him with the help of local residents, tied him to a tree, and beat him. The young man's family was then called in. After an hour-long meeting, he was released....
