PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 31 -- A cyber fraudster allegedly posing as a relative duped a police constable of Rs 45,000 and later threatened to kill him when confronted over the fraud. A case has been registered at Colonelganj police station of Prayagraj, and an investigation is underway. The victim, Dhananjay Chauhan received a call from an unknown number around 4 pm on January 2. The caller introduced himself as a relative and claimed that his own transaction limit had been exhausted and sought Chauhan's assistance in receiving money in his bank account. After following a few steps, sensing something suspicious, Chauhan reportedly refused to follow the instructions and disconnected the call. Shortly afterward, he received a notification from his mobile banking service informing him that Rs 45,000 had been debited from his SBI account at the Triveni branch. It was only then that he realized he had fallen victim to cyber fraud. Chauhan called the same number to seek an explanation when the caller allegedly warned him against contacting the number again....
