Cyber cheats swindle Rs 1 lakh from youth's bank account
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 22 -- :Cyber fraudsters allegedly siphoned off Rs 1 lakh from the bank account of a youth in Ajuha town in Pratapgarh after hacking his mobile phone and gaining access to his UPI-linked account. Police registered a case and launched an investigation with the assistance of the cyber cell. According to police, the victim, Manjit Sahu, a resident of Tanda Road in Ajuha, Pratapgarh reported that unidentified cyber criminals hacked his mobile phone on the night of July 11. The fraudsters subsequently used UPI transactions to withdraw Rs 1 lakh from his bank account without his knowledge.
Sahu learned about the unauthorised transactions the following morning when he checked messages received on his phone. Realising that money had been debited from his account, he immediately contacted the national cybercrime helpline 1930 and blocked his bank account to prevent further financial losses. After taking the initial precautionary measures, Sahu submitted a formal complaint to the police on Thursday, seeking action against those responsible for the fraud....
