LUCKNOW, Aug. 20 -- Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Shashi Prakash Goyal has gone on leave due to health reasons, and agriculture production commissioner (APC) Deepak Kumar has been assigned charge of all his departments till further orders, a state government officer said on Tuesday. Goyal, a 1989 batch IAS officer, had taken charge as chief secretary on July 31 after the retirement of Manoj Kumar Singh. He has also been holding charge of IIDC and chairman PICUP, CEO UPEIDA, CEO UPSHA, ACS coordination, and project director UP DASP. Before his elevation, Goyal was serving as additional chief secretary in the chief minister's office and is considered a close aide of CM Yogi Adityanath.
