Tharwai police initiated action following a complaint by Agrasen Singh Chauhan, a resident of Jayramkol village in Gorakhpur district. The fraud came to light on Wednesday when Chauhan arrived at the CRPF Group Centre to join duty with an appointment letter. During verification, officials found the document to be forged and alerted the police. According to the complaint, Chauhan came into contact with Jitendra Chauhan, a resident of Assam, in 2017. The accused allegedly promised to secure him a CRPF job. Chauhan applied for SSC GD recruitment in 2024 and figured on the final selection list, but his appointment letter was withheld during document verification.
