Crowd collects spilt petrol in Kanpur
KANPUR, March 29 -- Petrol spilled onto the Gujaini elevated bridge in Kanpur on Saturday after a stranded tanker was struck by an unidentified vehicle, drawing crowds of locals who began collecting the fuel in buckets and containers before police intervened.
The incident unfolded as the city, in the past few days, grappled with panic buying at petrol pumps. The tanker's driver, Munna Prasad of Banda, said he was transporting fuel from an HPCL depot in Raipur to Shivrajpur when the vehicle broke down.
A passing vehicle grazed the tanker, damaging its side and triggering the leak. Fire brigade teams and HPCL officials subsequently supervised the transfer of the remaining fuel into another tanker to prevent any mishap. HTC...
