LUCKNOW, Sept. 25 -- The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested a criminal, carrying a Rs.50,000 reward, in connection with a 2007 dacoity case in Sitapur. Ramu, son of Ram Kishan and a resident of Bhanpur village under Kamalapur police station, was arrested around 11.10pm on Wednesday near the Saryan river bridge in the Dhawarpura area of Sandana. He was wanted in a case registered under Sections 395, 397, 427 and 412 of the Indian Penal Code. The STF said Ramu fled to Punjab after the case was registered and had recently returned to Sitapur to meet his sister. A team tracked him down with the help of local police. A history-sheeter of Kamalapur police station, Ramu has been named in multiple cases registered between 2003 and 2008, including offences under the Arms Act, theft and the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. The 2007 case concerns a bus allegedly stopped near Bharouna crossing, where passengers were assaulted and robbed. The STF's account states that Ramu was among seven men involved and that one person died during the incident. He was handed over to Sandana police for further legal proceedings....
