LUCKNOW, Oct. 5 -- New Uttar Pradesh Congress president Aradhana Mishra on Sunday alleged that the BJP-led government had made the state unsafe for girls as she raised alarm over 'rising crimes against women'. "The government that cannot give safe roads, schools to girls and is sitting idle, will be removed, she claimed in a media statement. "Within a week, several cases of crimes against girls have been reported. There have been allegations of rape involving a 16-year-old girl in Bulandshahr and another 15-year-old girl in Basti, who was hospitalised after being found unconscious by her family," Mishra alleged. "The issue is not limited to these specific incidents but points to a larger systemic concern, with similar reports emerging from Banda, Sonbhadra, Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and even Lucknow," she claimed. "And if these specific cases weren't enough look at yearlong data according to which, 66,381 cases of crimes against women were registered in Uttar Pradesh in a single year. During the same period, 3,516 rape cases were registered in Uttar Pradesh. There were 3,206 recorded cases of murder. Also, 31 cases of acid attacks were registered," the UP Congress chief further claimed....
