LUCKNOW, April 28 -- Five thieves struck upon an ingenious idea to make a fast buck as summer continues to peak: breaking into an air-conditioner warehouse and stealing multiple units, police said. The Lucknow Police arrested the accused within 24 hours of the theft reported in the Hazratganj area and recovered all the stolen items, including three split ACs and their outdoor units. "The accused had targeted the warehouse on April 25 after identifying it as an easy target. They broke lock and fled with the appliances at night," said Hazratganj SHO Vikram Singh. During interrogation, the accused reportedly told investigators that the intense heat and spike in AC demand prompted them to commit the theft. They planned to sell the units at lower prices in the grey market to make quick money and fund their expenses. "Based on CCTV footage and technical surveillance, police traced and arrested the five from the Narhi area. All stolen items have been recovered, ensuring 100% recovery in the case," SHO added. The accused have been identified as Faisal (20), Manoj Rawat (22), Mukim (21), Qasim (19) and Mobin (24). A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS, and further investigation is underway. htc...
