Cow slaughter accused injuredin encounter, 3 others held
PRAYAGRAJ, July 14 -- A cow slaughter case accused was injured in a police encounter and arrested along with three other wanted men in Kaushambi district late on Sunday night.
The encounter took place under the Sarai Akil police station when the accused with Rs.25,000 reward allegedly opened fire on a police team attempting to arrest them, police said on Monday.
DSP (Chail) Shivank Singh said: "One accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg in retaliatory firing. The remaining three were also arrested. After treatment and legal formalities, all four were sent to jail. No police personnel were injured in the incident."
The injured accused, identified as Arshad alias Cheddan, sustained a bullet injury to his leg in retaliatory firing and was admitted to the district medical college hospital. After treatment and medical examination, all four accused were remanded to judicial custody.
According to police, two kg of beef were recovered from Arshad's house in Panara Gopalpur village on June 24. Police alleged that one kilogram had already been cooked for consumption. A case was registered....
