Corporators corner officials on civic issues, claim proceedings rushed
LUCKNOW, April 16 -- Corporators of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Wednesday strongly raised issues of sanitation failure, poor accountability, and civic mismanagement. They also alleged that the civic body's House proceedings were abruptly concluded in around two hours.
Both ruling and Opposition corporators criticised the manner in which the session was conducted, claiming that several key issues remained unaddressed.
The corporators alleged that the House failed to discuss sewer and Jal Kal-related problems, allowing proposals to be approved without discussion. The corporators also alleged that the LMC city health officer did not visit the site witness the road conditions filled with open waste. As the House progressed amid repeated disruptions, corporators from both sides expressed dissatisfaction with being denied sufficient time to speak. BJP corporators, including Harishchandra Lodhi and Pramod Singh Rajan, staged a walkout.
BJP corporator Bhrigunath Shukla of Babu Jagjivan Ram Ward highlighted increasing public complaints regarding door-to-door garbage collection.
Chinhat ward 2's BJP corporator Shailendra Verma demanded clarity on accountability, stating that corporators were answerable to the public while officials continued to evade responsibility. Issues such as garbage accumulation on roads, poor condition of pink toilets, and irregular sanitation services were repeatedly flagged.htc...
