Cops begin probe after body of unidentified man found
Haldwani, Oct. 23 -- Nainital police have started an investigation after the body of an unidentified man was found lying along Ranikhet Road in Ramnagar, Nainital district. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, but the deceased's identity had not been established till Wednesday evening, police said.
According to police, locals spotted the body in a garden near Poochri village on Tuesday and immediately informed the authorities. A team from Ramnagar police station reached the spot and conducted an initial inspection.
Senior sub-inspector at Ramnagar police station Mohammad Yunus said, "The deceased appears to be around 50 years old. No identity documents such as an Aadhaar card were found on him. A strong smell of alcohol was emanating from the body, but the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem."
The body has been kept at the government hospital mortuary in Ramnagar, and photographs have been circulated to nearby police stations to help establish identity. "The body will be kept in the mortuary for 72 hours. If the deceased remains unidentified during this period, the body will be cremated after post-mortem formalities," Yunus added....
