Cops: ITI student died by suicide during call with 'GF', call records show
PRAYAGRAJ, March 1 -- The Ghurpur police on Saturday clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of an ITI student, concluding that he died by suicide after being emotionally distressed over his girlfriend's alleged infidelity.
Police said he was on a phone call with the woman at the time of the incident, and mobile CDR details confirmed that he took the extreme step during their conversation.
According to ACP (Kaundhiara) Abdus Salam Khan, the deceased had been in a relationship with a woman from Naini since 2024. Her elder sister is married in the same village where he lived with his uncle. He wanted to marry the woman, but she refused due to caste differences. This reportedly caused further strain, and he had questioned her about it.
The CDR analysis revealed that he spoke to the woman for about 80 minutes shortly before he shot himself on Thursday night. After the gunshot, she repeatedly tried calling him but received no response. She also sent WhatsApp messages that went unanswered. Concerned, she asked friends to try calling his phone, but none of the calls were received. Police said that, frightened by the unfolding situation, the woman deleted her call logs and chat history.
