VARANASI, Sept. 25 -- A constable posted at the Rohaniya police station has been suspended following an inquiry into allegations of misconduct involving a local resident who is also a journalist at the Pandeypur police outpost, Varuna Zone police said. In a statement, the DSP (Varuna Zone) explained, "An inquiry into the allegations of misconduct revealed that the constable in question, Ranu Kumar, and journalist Devendra Pandey were already acquainted. The constable was suspended for leaving his designated jurisdiction without permission and causing a disturbance at the Lalpur-Pandeypur police station." Kumar allegedly misbehaved toward Pandey at the Pandeypur outpost, where he reportedly snatched the journalist's vehicle keys and mobile phone before threatening him.
