Cong workers stage protest in Mirzapur, demand Union Min Pradhan's resignation
VARANASI, July 25 -- Congress party workers staged a protest at the district headquarters on Friday, marching through the main roads and holding a sit-in at the district magistrate's office to demand the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The demonstration expressed solidarity with the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar and called for accountability from both the education minister and Union home minister Amit Shah.
Addressing the gathered party workers, district congress committee president Dr Shivkumar Patel criticised the alleged crackdown by Delhi Police on protesters at Jantar Mantar. He emphasised that the protest has been ongoing for over a month and warned the administration that this one-day sit-in serves as a precursor.
Former MLA Bhagwati Prasad Chaudhary also addressed the crowd, commenting on the recent decision by social activist Sonam Wangchuk to break his hunger strike. C
Chaudhary reaffirmed that the party's nationwide agitation would continue until the Union education minister resigns....
