New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- Top Congress leaders have held a couple of meetings this week to identify a woman legislator from Karnataka to be inducted into the state cabinet, an issue they had not been able to resolve for the past few months, people aware of the matter said on Thursday. There are four women Congress legislators in the Karnataka assembly. "The party had identified Kaneez Fatima, a two-term legislator, but she has language issues that makes her unsuitable for a ministerial job," said a senior leader, requesting anonymity. Another possible candidate was Roopakala but senior leaders have argued that her father, KH Muniyappa is a senior cabinet minister, and that two leaders from the same family should not be given ministerial berths. "There are 2-3 women lawmakers who can be given ministerial responsibilities but the appointment has to justify the regional balance in the cabinet," the leader cited above said, referring to challenges in making the choice....
