LUCKNOW, Aug. 2 -- A four-member audit team is carrying out a compliance audit of King George's Medical University's procurement and financial processes under the aegis of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. KGMU spokesperson prof KK Singh said the exercise is a routine annual audit, adding that the team visits the university every year and conducts the audit for about 15 days. The audit team has been stationed at KGMU since July 15 and is scheduled to examine records till August 4. Official sources said the team is scrutinising procurement of machinery, tendering procedures, payments, income and expenditure, administrative approvals, and other financial records to verify compliance with prescribed rules and procedures. The extensive requisition of documents has triggered heightened activity across the university, with departments retrieving old records and compiling files sought by the auditors. Sources said the audit covers the entire chain of procurement, approvals and payments, and clarifications may be sought from officials wherever required. The office of the accountant general will prepare a detailed report after the audit.
