Colour-coded stickers to help manage traffic
Haldwani, Dec. 21 -- The Nainital police department has introduced a colour-coded sticker system for vehicles entering the district to ensure smooth traffic movement during the Christmas and New Year rush, officials said.
Nainital SSP Manjunath TC said that every year, thousands of tourists visit Nainital and nearby hill stations during the festive season, resulting in heavy vehicular pressure and frequent traffic jams. "To regulate traffic and reduce congestion, the sticker system will be implemented this year," he said.
Under the new system, different coloured stickers will be issued to vehicles heading towards specific destinations such as Bhowali, Bhimtal, Mukteshwar, Kainchi Dham and Ramnagar. Police teams deployed at district entry points will affix stickers based on the destination of each vehicle. Vehicles will be allowed to move only on the route mentioned on the sticker, the SSP said....
