College of Arts and Crafts: Renovation work completed
LUCKNOW, April 24 -- The renovated buildings of the College of Arts and Crafts under the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lucknow, were inaugurated by the vice-chancellor, prof JP Saini.
Established in 1892, the College of Arts and Crafts has long been regarded as one of the most prestigious art institutions of undivided India. This is the first time in the institution's 115-year history that such extensive renovation and development works have been undertaken on a large scale, an official said.
"A fund of Rs.5.11 crore was sanctioned for the development of the college buildings, hostels, and other infrastructural facilities. The project included renovation of academic buildings, upgradation of hostels, improvement of electrical and water supply systems, campus beautification, and strengthening of other essential infrastructure facilities," said dean and principal Ratan Kumar on Thursday. Saini said that the University administration is committed to preserving the institution's glorious heritage while equipping it with modern facilities.
