CM congratulates Indian U-18 hockey team on winning Junior Asia Cup
Lucknow, June 7 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the Indian hockey team on Saturday for winning the gold medal in the Men's Under-18 Asia Cup 2026.
In the final played at Kakamigahara on Friday, India defeated hosts Japan 4-1 to earn the distinction of becoming Asian champions. The chief minister praised the five players from Uttar Pradesh who played an important role in this historic victory for Team India and brought glory to the state.
"Heartfelt congratulations to the Indian hockey team and all countrymen for bringing glory to Mother India by winning the gold medal in the Men's Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 held in Japan. In this historic victory, the outstanding performances of Uttar Pradesh's talented players Ketan Kushwaha, Shah Rukh Ali, Prahlad Rajbhar, Rahul Yadav and Romit Pal have provided a special moment of pride for the state. All of you have enhanced the nation's honour through your skill, dedication and discipline. Heartiest congratulations to all the players, coaching staff and support staff of the team. May this golden journey of victory continue to touch new heights, and may Indian hockey set new milestones of success on the world stage," he wrote on X.
