Lucknow, April 13 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday termed the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle as an extremely sorrowful event and an irreparable loss to the arts. In a post on X, he said her unparalleled artistry elevated Indian music to new heights and that her melodious voice will live on in people's hearts. He also prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for her family and admirers. Asha Bhosle died on Sunday at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure, doctors said. She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening with a chest infection and exhaustion, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said. With a career spanning over eight decades, she recorded more than 12,000 songs in several Indian languages. She was known for her versatility, singing romantic songs, ghazals and lively numbers. Her popular songs include "Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar", "In Ankhon Ki Masti", "Dil Cheez Kya Hai", "Piya Tu Ab to Aaja", "Duniya Mein Logon Ko", and "Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main". PTI...
