Class 8 student feared drowned in Ganga
PRAYAGRAJ, April 23 -- A wedding celebration in Phaphamau area of Prayagraj turned into tragedy on Wednesday after a 14-year-old boy was feared drowned in the Ganga while taking a holy dip. The deceased has been identified as Johit Maurya, a Class 8 student and a resident of Sisahi Sipha village in Mauaima, Prayagraj. Johit had come with his family to Murhu village, Phaphamau, to attend the wedding reception of the son of his paternal uncle. While family members were busy with preparations for the reception, Johit, around 9 am, went to the riverbank to bathe in the Ganga along with four relatives and Deepak Yadav. According to witnesses, while bathing, Johit, Anshu, and Amit accidentally drifted into deep water and began to drown. Deepak managed to rescue Anshu and Amit, but by the time help arrived, Johit disappeared in the strong current. htc...
