Claims of toddy deaths in Lko unverified: Police
LUCKNOW, June 20 -- Police have dismissed as unverified social media claims that two people died after consuming toddy (Tadi) in Lucknow's Para area, stating that the cause of death in the case is yet to be established and will be known only after the post-mortem examination.
According to police, information was received in the wee hours of June 19 regarding the death of a 19-year-old man, a resident of Narpat Kheda under the Para police station limits. Following the incident, several social media posts alleged that two persons had died after consuming toddy in the area.
However, police said the family of the deceased has not attributed the death to toddy consumption in its written complaint. Instead, relatives informed police that the youth may have consumed some potentially poisonous substance and requested a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Based on the family's complaint, police sent the body for a post-mortem examination. "The actual cause of death will be known only after the postmortem report is received," police said in a media statement issued on Friday.
Police added that further legal action, if required, will be taken on the basis of the examination findings and other evidence collected during the investigation.htc...
